Twenty-one swims give anglers a wide range of options around Cherpont’s 39 acres of water.With a maximum of only 15 anglers fishing at any one time, there are more swims than anglers.

CHOOSING YOUR SWIM
Swims are allocated through the Cherpont swim-draw process.
Before settling in, pay attention to what’s happening around the lake. Watch for showing fish and ask for advice.
FISHING DIFFERENT RANGES
Don’t automatically assume French carp are sitting 120 yards away.
Cherpont has produced carp at close range, around the 50–70 yard range and at considerably longer distances.
Watercraft can be more valuable than casting distance.
CHOOSING YOUR SWIM
Paths provide access around the lake and vehicles can be taken towards designated unloading areas serving some of the more distant swims.
Vehicles must not be driven directly alongside the lake banks.
SET UP CAREFULLY
Consider the week’s weather before positioning your bivvy.
Leave sufficient room behind and around your rods for safe casting.
The ground can also be firm, so a rod pod can sometimes be preferable to repeatedly driving banksticks into the ground.
RESPECT OTHER ANGLERS
Cherpont is a peaceful lake.
Keep unnecessary disturbance to a minimum and follow the rules governing movement away from your rods.
